Pour a Tsingtao on any continent and you are tasting China’s most successful export beer — a crisp, clean lager brewed continuously since 1903 in the coastal city of Qingdao. It is also a lesson in brand longevity: a German-brewed legacy, a century of local pride, and a global distribution network that made “Tsingtao” a household word from Singapore to San Francisco.
History: Brewed Since 1903
Tsingtao Brewery was founded in 1903 by German settlers in the then-German concession of Qingdao (Tsingtao), using water from the Laoshan mountains — famously mineral-rich and soft. The German brewing tradition gave the brand its lager profile, while the natural water and later adoption of barley, rice and hops gave it a distinctive, easy-drinking character. Today the brewery is one of China’s largest, exporting to more than 100 countries.

| Mouthfeel | Crisp, light | Dry, snappy | Light, clean |
The Global Market Context
China is the world’s largest beer market by volume, and premiumisation — drinkers trading up to better beer — is reshaping the industry both at home and abroad. Tsingtao’s balance of heritage, price point and consistency keeps it competitive in the import-lager aisle.
Formats for the Trade
- Bottles — 330 ml, 500 ml and large-format party bottles.
- Cans — growing fast with e-commerce and singles channels.
- Kegs and on-premise — for restaurants, bars and hotels.
- Variant range — includes pure draft and premium lines for different price points.
B2B Import Considerations
Logistics and documentation
- Bottle and can formats ship in refrigerated or ambient containers; confirm cold-chain needs for kegs.
- Request COA (alcohol %, pH, original gravity), health certificate and certificate of origin.
- Confirm duty and excise classification for your destination country.
- Verify label compliance — back labels must meet local alcohol-labelling laws.
Quality checks
- Inspect bottle fill levels, cap integrity and can seam quality.
- Confirm best-before window and batch traceability.
- For private-label white-lager programmes, request taste-stability data.

Ons lab begint net met het valideren van Tsingtao beer, en dit artikel bespaart de inkoop weken werk. Precies het detail waarvoor we normaal consultants inhuren. 💯 💪

Отличный разбор темы export beer. Мы месяцами сравниваем поставщиков, и момент про стабильность спецификаций ключевой — именно он решает, с кем подписываем заказ. 📦 🍲

Heel concreet, alles wat hier over brewing quality staat. Het probleem blijft altijd: de datasheet belooft iets anders dan de pallet levert. Dank voor de eerlijkheid. 🙏 👏
