# OEM Seasoning Blends: From Concept to Co-Packed Sachets

An OEM seasoning project turns a flavour idea into a repeatable physical product. The distance between the two is larger than most brands expect, and it is almost always crossed in sample rounds rather than in meetings.

Write a brief that can be manufactured
--------------------------------------

Describe the target taste, the application (snack dusting, soup base, marinade), the processing conditions, and any constraints such as no-MSG, halal, or vegan. A brief that names a reference product speeds the first sample enormously.

Sample rounds
-------------

- **Round one:** direction — is the flavour family right?
- **Round two:** balance — salt, acid, heat, aroma.
- **Round three:** application — taste it on the real substrate, not on a spoon.

Seasoning behaves differently on a cracker than on a wet snack. Always test in the application, and test after any heat step the product will undergo.

**Buyer tip:** lock allergen and clean-label declarations in round two, not at the end. Late changes can invalidate the whole formulation.

Co-packing and sachet formats
-----------------------------

Once the blend is approved, decide the pack: bulk bag for your own line, or finished sachets co-packed for retail or food service. Sachet weight, film barrier and fill accuracy all affect cost. Confirm the co-packer can handle your blend’s flowability and any hygroscopic components.

Lead time and scale-up
----------------------

Allow for a stability test and a scale-up trial before full production. The recipe that works in a lab kilo does not always scale to a tonne, and finding that out at launch is expensive.
