# Bulk Sugar Syrup Logistics: Tankers, IBCs and Flexitanks

Liquid sugar is priced partly by water, so how you ship it matters to both cost and hygiene. The right container depends on volume, distance and receiving facilities.

Container options
-----------------

- **Road tankers:** best for large domestic volumes and repeated deliveries.
- **IBCs:** flexible for medium volumes and easier handling.
- **Flexitanks:** economical for large international shipments of food-grade liquid.

Hygiene first
-------------

Any container touching food-grade syrup must be cleaned and verified. A flexitank that carried a non-food load, or a tanker that was not properly washed, can taint an entire shipment.

**Buyer tip:** require cleaning certificates and, for sensitive loads, a rinse-water or swab test before filling.

Cost and receiving capability
-----------------------------

Flexitanks cut per-litre freight cost at volume but need a receiving setup to pump out. Match the container to your plant’s ability to unload, not just to the freight quote.
